Meeting someone safely

Churr introduces you to strangers. That is the point, and it is the risk. Nothing on this page is unusual advice — it is the advice everyone already knows and forgets when they are nervous.

Before you go

• Meet in the public place in the plan. Do not move it to a home, yours or theirs, the first time.
• Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
• Get yourself there and get yourself home. Do not rely on a lift from someone you have just met.
• Leave whenever you want. You owe a stranger nothing beyond a polite goodbye.
• If anything feels wrong, block and report from the chat. Reporting blocks them from you straight away.

What Churr has and has not checked

Has: that this person controls a phone number, and that they said they are 18 or over.

Has not: who they are, what they do, whether they have a criminal record, or whether they mean you well. We do not run background checks and we do not verify identity. Anyone who tells you Churr has vetted someone is wrong.

The liveness check, when it is running, proves that a live human was in front of a camera. It does not prove who that human is. *In this version it is not running: the app records the check as skipped, and the screen says so rather than pretending otherwise.*

Warning signs worth taking seriously

• Wanting to move the meeting to a private place, especially at the last minute.
• Pushing you to keep the meeting a secret, or asking you not to tell anyone.
• Asking for money, for a favour involving money, or for anything to do with a bank account, crypto, or an "opportunity". **Churr will never ask you for payment details and neither should anyone you meet through it.**
• Asking for your home address, your workplace, or photographs.
• Getting angry when you set a limit.

Any one of those is enough. You do not need a reason to leave and you do not owe an explanation.

Blocking and reporting

Every introduction, every chat and every plan has Report and Block.

• Block takes effect immediately and works both ways. You disappear from each other's lists, your twins will never be introduced, and neither of you sees the other's plans. They are not told.
• Report blocks them too, the same way, the moment you send it. You do not have to do both. They are not told that you reported them. The one report that does not block is spam, because an advert is not somebody you need away from you — we hide it and leave your plans alone.
• Then a person reads it. The worst first. We do not promise you a number of hours: we would rather the app protect you the moment you press the button, which it does, than hand you a deadline one person cannot keep.

If you are in danger

Call 911. Then tell us at hello@churr.io so we can act on the account.

After the meeting

The app asks whether you met and whether you would again. Answer honestly — it is how your twin learns what actually works for you, and it is the only signal we have that a meeting was good.
